Odi Patriots Visit Bayelsa State Head of Service, Call for Disciplined Service.

The Head of Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer, mni, has reaffirmed his commitment to institutionalizing discipline and meritocracy in the State Civil Service as part of efforts to reposition it for greater efficiency and productivity. Dr. Sawyer stated this when he received members of the Patriots of Odi Community, led by their Chairman, Rev. John Torunana, during a courtesy visit to his office in Yenagoa.

The Head of Service assured that he would continue to work harmoniously with the state government to promote the welfare of civil servants, enhance capacity building, and strengthen work ethics across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the State.

Dr. Sawyer expressed gratitude to the Odi Patriots for the recognition and words of encouragement, pledging to take their advice seriously in the discharge of his duties.

The Head of Service used the opportunity to recall with nostalgia his long-standing ties with the Odi community, noting the fond memories he had there from childhood.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Odi Patriots, Rev. John Torunana, congratulated Dr. Sawyer on his appointment as Head of Service and expressed appreciation to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for finding him worthy of the position.

Rev. Torunana emphasized that effective discipline remains key to driving development in the Civil Service. He urged the government to continue prioritizing the welfare of workers to sustain a motivated and productive workforce.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the Odi Patriots, Engr. Odobu Teibowei, called on the Head of Service to promote integrity and uphold cultural values that enhance productivity and unity.

In a solemn moment, member of the delegation, Dr. Dawariye Johnson, described Dr. Sawyer’s appointment as well-deserved and prayed for divine wisdom and strength for him to pilot the affairs of the Civil Service to greater heights.

Other members of the delegation included Dr. Emmanuel Denenu, Prof. Ebitimitula Etebu, Elder Koku Imananagha, Chief Gilbert Mein, Mr. Ebiyegba George, and Sir Braveman Wodi.
