The Head of Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer, mni, has been honoured with the “Agogo Newspaper Man of the Year and Transparency Award 2025.”. The award was presented by the Editor-in-Chief of Agogo Newspaper, a Lagos-based tabloid, Mr. Lawrence Osewoloto, during a visit to Dr. Sawyer’s office at the State Secretariat in Yenagoa.

Expressing his delight, the Head of Service pledged to continue providing visionary leadership in the State Civil Service. He reiterated his commitment to advancing the digitalization of the Service in alignment with the government’s Prosperity Agenda to boost productivity across the State.

Dr. Sawyer highlighted that the recent competency-based examination for management staff on Grade Levels 16 and 17—conducted as part of the process for appointing Permanent Secretaries—is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to transparency.

He further reaffirmed his resolve to promote the welfare of civil servants, strengthen capacity-building initiatives, and uphold strong work ethics across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Dr. Sawyer also thanked Agogo Newspaper for recognizing his efforts to enhance efficiency and productivity in the Civil Service through the 2025 Man of the Year and Transparency Award.

Earlier, Mr. Osewoloto explained that Dr. Sawyer was selected for the award based on the remarkable record he has established within a few months of assuming office. He commended the Head of Service for his dedication and wished him continued success in his role.
